About Us

City burst

MATTHEW 5:14

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

“We want to be that kind of church: a community where people discover Jesus.”

Jesus has given his church a great vision.

He has called us to be the light of the world. There is something about the church that is meant to be like a city on a hill — a community that is so radiant and bright and full of life that people are drawn towards it. And when they get there they discover the reason for its radiance — because Jesus is there.

We want to be that kind of church: a community where people discover Jesus.

What we believe

We believe in the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Christian faith is all about a loving God rescuing a broken world through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It’s the great story above all other stories that answers the deep questions we all have, questions like: who made this world, why do we exist, why is there suffering and evil, why do we die and what the future for our world?

Why not come and explore these questions with us? We’d love to be part of your journey.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son.

John 3:16

We are passionate about the church.

Many people today think of the church as a cold and religious place, a place where you don’t belong.

But what if church wasn’t like that? What if church was a family with a place at the table for everyone? What if church was somewhere you could bring your questions and explore the claims of Jesus without judgement? What if church was about discovering a living relationship with God?

We believe church should be like that. Whoever you are there’s a place at our table for you.

We love our community (because God does too).

The church was never meant to exist for it’s own benefit. As God’s people we exist to love the world around us and our mission is to bring the good news of Jesus and love of God to the communities in which we live and work.

We do this by getting involved in our local community wherever we can, sharing our faith and actively working for the good of all people, irrespective of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

We are on a mission with God. Come with us and let’s see what God will do.

We hold to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith. You can read more about that here.

Commission is an international family of churches working together to see THOUSANDS of lives transformed through HUNDREDS of churches in TENS of nations.

We are a small part of a much bigger family.

Commission is led by Guy Miller and a team of leaders. Together they serve our church by praying for us, laying biblical foundations, helping us raise up leaders and build strong relationships with other churches around the globe.

As a family of churches we take Jesus’ apostolic commission seriously, sharing our resources and working together to plant churches and take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

We are on a great adventure together.

WHO OR WHAT IS COMMISSION?

As a member of the Evangelical Alliance we also stand alongside a diverse group of Christian believers that includes Anglicans, Methodists, Pentecostals, Baptists and many other independent churches in affirming our shared belief in the gospel and a commitment to building good relationships.
